Cloud sync vs backup: understand the difference
Inspect what synchronizes, what history survives, and whether another copy remains available when a device or account is lost.
Read the 6-minute guideCheck that the originals are included.
A cloud disk can show filenames whose full contents are not stored locally. Your backup inventory should distinguish downloaded originals, online-only entries, and documents that need a service-specific export. A familiar folder view is a useful index, not proof that an offline copy contains every byte.
Choose a small sample and make its contents available through the service’s supported method. Check local space before downloading a large library. Capture that sample with the intended backup process, then inspect what was actually written to the destination.
Open representative content from the recovery copy without depending on the original cloud session. Test a large file and a document with special features. Record which items need a separate reader, export, or authorization step.
Only rely on coverage you have verified for your tool and configuration. Check whether full originals were available at capture time and whether cloud-native documents need another export route.
