Back up AI prompts, LLM artifacts, and workflows
Preserve prompt versions, model references, retrieval inputs, and evaluation cases without confusing credentials with service credits.
Read the 6-minute guideVersion instructions with their context.
Reusable prompts deserve names, versions, and tests. Keep the template separate from the private information supplied to it, and save the expected input and output structure. A prompt becomes easier to recover when another person can see both how to use it and why a revision was accepted.
Create a versioned prompt library with one purpose per template. Keep secrets and private customer examples out of ordinary repository files. Mark approved releases clearly and retain a short explanation of the changes rather than relying on filenames such as “final-final.”
Load a saved version in a clean test environment, supply the documented inputs, and inspect the output against the acceptance criteria. Include a case with missing information so you can evaluate how uncertainty is handled.
They can preserve useful examples, but reusable templates are easier to maintain when separated from conversation-specific inputs. Keep the relevant context and tests, then identify which prompt version belongs to a working release.
